Safety

The Subaru Uncharted has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Uncharted has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Uncharted Sport/GT’s standard Downhill Assist Control allows you to creep down safely. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer Downhill Assist Control.

The Subaru Uncharted’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

Both the Uncharted and the Ioniq 6 N have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Ergonomics

The Uncharted has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

When two different drivers share the Uncharted Sport/GT, the memory seats and mirrors make it convenient for both. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position and outside mirror angle. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer a memory system.

The Uncharted’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Uncharted’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Ioniq 6 N’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

The Uncharted’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Ioniq 6 N’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

If the windows are left open on the Uncharted the driver can close all of them at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Subaru service department.) The driver of the Ioniq 6 N can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Uncharted has a standard rear wiper. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Uncharted has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Uncharted’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Ioniq 6 N’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

Both the Uncharted and the Ioniq 6 N have standard heated front seats. The Uncharted GT also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Ioniq 6 N.

The Subaru Uncharted stands out above the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N by offering not one, but two Qi-compatible phone chargers. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and two of them provide more flexibility.

The Uncharted has a 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Model Availability

The Uncharted is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Ioniq 6 N doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
